la vie en plaid

Saturday, November 26th 2011

Holiday season officially begins around Thanksgiving and oh la la does it feel good. Leaves colorfully decorate the streets with bright oranges, deep reds, and yellow highlights while trees go bare to be adorned with sparkly lights. The feasting begins and suddenly the air is full of holiday romance. Everyone starts to dress with a little tresridicool flare: bold colors come out to play with festive prints, puffy coats and cable sweaters keep us cozy (disguising that all we have been doing is consuming delicious treats), and sexy strappy sandals get neglected as fancy pumps take the front stage. Cheesy holiday music sounds on every speaker (but you know you secretly love it) and then before we know it another year has come and gone. This holiday season tresridicool has fallen hopelessly in love with plaid prints and la vie en rose (rosy hues)....join us if you fancy.

striped down

Saturday, November 19th 2011

"Oh, it'll take a little time,
Might take a little crime
To come undone now...

We'll try to stay blind
To the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind
And blow me into cry...

Who do you need, who do you love
When you come undone?"

big bang theory

Friday, November 18th 2011

Dolce Gabbana Fall 2011
Vogue Best Dressed 2011, opening article Coco Chanel

The basic platform of the Bing Bang Theory lays in the question of where it all began: how the world came to be. It's nice to fantasize, theorize, and hypothesize the unknown - the possibilities keep us dreaming. In concept, reflective questions become retrospective. The point is is not that boom there was a bang and we suddenly came to be, but more so about where we came from and where we are going. In 2008 Chanel painted the runway with stars, today we see Dolce Gabbana's interpretation. Though fashion is often light and fun it does hold a seriousness and relevance.Vogue's 2011 Best Dressed highlights how slipping into a beautiful gown can make even Cinderella feel like a princess. Whether it is a dress, a tailored suit, high heels, or the perfect shade of lipstick - the essence can act as a transforming catalyst. The Best Dressed opening article pays homage to a true fashion icon, Coco Chanel. A woman and couturiere who lived by her own rules, and set the standard that a woman should always be ready to meet her lover. That was her big bang theory, and today it is mine too.

Pink is a funny color for me - growing up as a tomboy, the sound or sight of that word made me cringe. Today, my home is tastefully decorated with hot pink and magenta accents. Some things in life do change. The funny thing is that the color pink does not have to be a super girly foo foo typathing. Let's take the singer Pink for example....nuff said. Perhaps tresridicool would not go as far as pastel pink is concerned but we are totally head over heels for hot pink pantalons. In fact les pink pantalons seem to be popping up left right and center. Black is not out (duh) but this season it has jumped into a bath with colorful splash.

T-Mobile and tresridicool's loved French street artist Mr. Brainwash joined forces to rock the street masterpiece exhibit on La Brea. Beats flowed from spit master Busta Rhymes, Drake, and pop rockin Maroon 5. The party brought together LA's finest of tresridicool from fashion, graphic, and international circles. Most peeps go hipsta chic to a street concert sporting jeans and a tee but we are not the many. Kim rocked a skirt with tied up swag, and funked out the innocent with nude high socks and buckled platforms. Street style gone street cred - whatevayawannacallit - Kim's got it.

it's the little things..

Tuesday, November 15th 2011

Schlepping around a huge bag is not my thing. It's not like bigger bags come with more compartments (which would make sense).. quite the contrary they are like a giant black hole. I swear once something goes in it takes a good half hour to find it again. Annoying and a total bottleneck. You know you know what I mean. And umm not to be vain or anything but standing all lopsided because of a big heavy bag is not ideal. Good posture goes a long way and lord knows it is easy to be poised with a cute little satchel. So free yourself from the black hole trap and remember it's the little things in life...

Every magazine, every style blog, and everywhere you turn you are bound to see denim. It almost seems as if jeans are the new black. I dared to say it, ha. Whether that statment stands true or not, it is fair to say that it is not only jeans that are a staple these days but also denim shirts, denim dresses, denim clutches and denim jackets. Androgynous chic at its finest - it does not take a jeanius to recognize that denim is back in full effect.

artful expression

Friday, November 11th 2011

Adam McEwen at Gasgosian Gallery

Slimane exhibit at the MOCA

Artful expression is a passionate romance between perspective and reality. Much like love, art cannot be forced, it must come naturally, organically. The beauty of our entangled society is that no art form stands alone. Instead each creative perspective feeds off the other for inspirational nutrition. Painters, Photographers, Designers and Musicians all find creative freedom from past and present encounters. In attending two phenomenal exhibits Kim herself was inspired. She painted her canvas with a knotted color blocked blouse and toughened her hi-lo flirty hem line with a an edgy leather jacket. Each day your outfit can be your masterpiece, so go on express yourself. Adam McEwen and Hedi Slimane are modern day creative geniuses who recognize that art is but a celebrated perspective.

Love love love the sexy disco boyish sparkly feel that Dolce Gabbana has going on right meow. The collection is playfully chic offering sequined one pieces to be worn with jeans, slacks, a skirt... musically inclined prints, flora toned blazers, sequin dresses, leopard oxfords and even more tresridicool silhouettes. Kim showed up to the party in true tresridicool form rocking knee high socks and a Dries Van Noten puffer coat. Take notice to the fact that she is wearing Forever 21 shorts but with the right styling you would never guess. I mean if you are going to wear knee highs socks you might as well go all out with sex appeal. Bravo Kim.
