shower powder

Tuesday, October 11th 2011

SS12 is a shower of powder: Louis Vuitton, Prada, Givenchy....all rocking powder pastels. We took special fancy House of Holland's interpretation - they splashed a tomboyish punk in with the soft powder pastels and made it tresridicool. The beauty of the pastel pallette is its ability to soften a look. If Kim had worn this ultra fabulous brown/leopard maxi skirt with a black or white top the style would have been tres formal. However, as you know we like to shake shake shake shake it up a bit. Conventional just doesn't cut it. Flower power what? tresridicool just went shower powder.

forgiven fashion

Monday, October 10th 2011

Lace knee pads are forgiven when you wear them with innocent white blouses. Dats right. We all have a little bit of bad in us, which is what keeps us sexy. Kim and I - we don't really mesh with 'Little House On the Prairie' girls, but that doesn't mean we can't take some of their style! I love this white blouse by Manoush almost as much as I love the French designer Vanessa Bruno. One thing I can never have too many of is fabulous white blouses. They are so timeless, so chic, so easy to wear with anything....even lace knee pads. Vanessa Bruno - I gotta applaud her and her creative vision. Kim may not be getting on her knees in those saucy knee 'pads' to ask for forgiveness, but she certainly looks tresridicool.

What is more inspiring than street art??? It is the core of creativity stemming from every walk of life. In fact, a few months ago the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) had an exhibit demonstrating the original street art which began in Brazil many years ago. We never made it to the exhibit, but if it was anything like the Mr. Brainwash exhibit - I am so sad we missed it! Much like fashion, street art is an ever evolving canvas. It can start as a little scribble and layer into a masterpiece. Whether you are walking an exhibit in a museum, strolling La Brea at the Mr. Brainwash exhibit, or exploring life in an exciting country like Brazil - we have one piece of advice.....be fearless and wear bordeaux velvet Keds. Like street art, be free, be colorful, be you <3

bows and bells

Friday, September 30th 2011

You know those nights where you hop around? When I am wearing an tresridicool outfit, the more places the better. Kim's Miu Miu bell bottoms were reason enough to go everywhere fabulous. We started with dinner at Sushi Park - a must dine in LA. It is on the second floor of a strip mall on Sunset Blvd. Totally unassuming but certainly memorable. The chef is particular about how you eat each morsel and trust - he knows whats up. Apres din we hit the town with bows and bells in tow. Like karma, bell bottoms always come back around - these Miu Miu flares Kim wore may be at the top of my drool list. Velcro ankle strapped bell bottoms are so tresridicool!

chain addiction

Monday, September 26th 2011

Madeo is the place to eat Italian in LA. It is has a very charming old world feel, phenomenal cuisine, and impeccable service. Of course, that is where I met Kim's mom for the first time. That woman defines 'chic' as Madeo defines delicious. So there we sat, Kim, I, her Mom, her sister, and her brother in law - talking about life and eating the delightful flavors of shaved artichoke salad with parmesan, and penne a la vodka. When dining out at a fine restaurant on a Monday, you do not want to walk in all fancy, however you of course want to be stylish and appropriate. If you deconstruct what Kim wore to Madeo she paired a few classics, with great accessories and called it a Monday.  Let's look at her head piece for a moment - do you not die over this chainful beauty?? Kim Kardashian rocked a head piece for her wedding, but our Kim rocked it to dinner and made it look so tresridicool with her peach blazer and plaid top.

ps. the rolled pant look is an easy way to update any trouser, or even sweat pant in your wardrobe. I am so addicted to the sweet pant as outerwear look going on right now. Throw them on, roll them up - and pair them with a tresridicool shoe like these fabulous zebra inspired Keds designed by Opening Ceremony. Getting dressed is so personal, our best advice is 'if you feel good, you probably look good'.

plaid with pink

Friday, September 23rd 2011

Plaid can often times seem boyish, but when Kim wears plaid, she makes a sexy feminine statement by pairing it with hot pink Tod’s loafers and torn up-body tight- bleached Current Elliot jeans. It dresses up the rugged with cozy and makes it comfy couture – tres daytime appropo. Having lived in Seattle for ten years, I have a palette for splashes of grunge which tresridicool insists cannot get lost in translation. You can mix plaid with almost anything. Just like the middle finger, a plaid shirt is an easy thing to pull out. That was the first analogy that came to mind so no offense. You picked up what I was putting down, so at least it worked. Go plaid, or go home.

JFK ----> LAX

Tuesday, September 20th 2011

One of our favorite trips is the LAX ---> JFK jaunt - Bi-coastal baby that is the way to be. I just moved back to NYC from three years in SoCal, and Kim now lives in LA after a year in the concrete jungle. Being back in the city, I swear I have walked more than I ever did my three years in LA. Being five foot one I prefer to wear heels, but I embrace flats for the sake of mobility. Kim makes Keds look good as does Opening Ceremony. Regardless of where you live or where you are going it is important to always take pride in the way you look, presentation is everything. If you wanna kick back in sneakers, keep your Nike’s in your gym bag and wear Opening Ceremony Keds. That automatically added a little flare to Kim’s effortless combo of hippie chic. One thing I gotta give credit to LA/Parisian girls: they really know how to pull off the art of ‘I just rolled out of bed and look damn good’.

mellow yellow

Monday, September 19th 2011

NEON is so hot right meow, and of course Opening Ceremony is on top of it. A neon headband is tresridicool on so many levels. There are few retailers who truly translate a concept into a shopping platform and Opening Ceremony is certainly one of them, trust.  J'adore how Kim paired different shades of the same color in the same outfit. Today we mix black and blue, washed black with crisp black, prints with more prints.... so why not neon yellow with mellow yellow?!?!  Kim rocked yellow on her head, a yellow tribal print on her shoulder with a Miss Mochilla bag, and tied it all up with her (super swag) Opening Ceremony yellow lace up boots. Go on, get shady with it.

colorful commando

Sunday, September 18th 2011

Military jackets have been in for a while, a clear sign of the world we live in (chaotic). But this season you will see an evolved interpreation of the commando must have, incorporating color blocking, and contrasting fabrics. Trend is an interesting concept, it is continually changing as are our surroundings. If you stop to think about it, trend forecasting essetially pulls from entertainment in the current films and books, as well as the economy (take it back to minimalism), technology (nod to Steve Jobs for making all iThings) and other influences to find inspiration. Lets take the military jacket for example - it has been trending since we have been back in combat for a few years now, also the modern Alice in Wonderland Film has greatly impacted today's fashion. Another super trend for Fall is loafers and our current obsession is le All Saint loafer, super stylish but also affordable and comfortable. It is tresridicool to find the trendier pieces for a bargain, and reserve your liquid cash for life or death necessities like Alexander Wang sunglasses, enough said.

Tresridicool <3 Isabel Marant anything and everything all time, yes! However, there are exceptions to be made when you find a great basic for a good price. Kim found this Tallula t-shirt and Wilfred military jacket from AritziaThe tee looks like Isabel Marant as far as fit, but is much softer having a modal based blend, OH and it's $35!!!!! When you go commando, don't go butch on us, try to incorporate a little femininity by wearing a colorful pant (another super trend). Kim went commando with her hot pink pants (by Zara, duh). Copy that.
