Once upon a time there was a confident-cool affiliatied with men who wore Tommy Bahama type tops. Since the days of Dirty Dancing, Elvis, and Beverly Hills Cop however that association has quickly faded into more of an Office Space vibe...mmmmmmmmkay. This Spring Season though, aloha got her groove back. Yaaaa Haaaa dats right. Maybe the trend came from our shared subconscience dyre need for a tropical getaway, or perhaps it was a totally conscience effort from fashion houses to flood the runway with bermuda, bahama come on pretty mama. Times are tough, yes. But we still gotta kick back and relax, fact. Ladies and Gents maybe a lai is not on your horizon...that doesn't mean you can't get your hula on, and put some sway in your swag.

Rag & Bone SS12

There are few color combinations that harmoniously complement one another across the shade board. The nice thing about orange and blue is that they look good together bright, light, and bold. Powder blue, teal, navy, cobalt are fine colors in their own right but when you introduce them to clementine, peach, cognac, construction orange...the duo demand your attention. Resort and SS12 is a fateful love story of when orange met blue. Designers separately, yet simultaneously have professed their love. Christopher Kane's script was all sorts of genius. He flawlessly played with fabric and texture, and fearlessly paired patent open toe orangle fluo heels + orange pants + white lace collared shirt + basic long sleeve navy blue sweater = GENIUS. Another noteworthy tale was told by the dashing men of Rag & Bone. Their confession was passionate, formal and revealing all at once. I'm blushing at the sight. Love Actually is when orange met blue.

layer of lace

Tuesday, December 13th 2011

Lingerie is so much more than underwear. It is the first layer that touches our skin, cupping & hugging our most private posessions. When undressed, it is the delicate lacey silk ensemble that reveals our natural feminine figure. As a word alone, lingerie is sultry, but when you pair it with the stunning new face of Lancome (born to the ex-French Editor in Chief of Vogue) and Kiki Montparnasse - the entire notion of seduction is elevated. Julia Roitfeld has dabbled in a variety of ventures in the beauty arena while Kiki Montpanasse is lingerie. Together their vintage insired designs and sepia toned photographs display the woman we all have inside of us one part retro, two parts glamour, and three parts sexy. Lingerie may be for him, but it is most certainly for the charmingly naughty in her first.

neon obsession

Monday, December 12th 2011

Get ready to brighten up your step. SS12 has a refreshingly electric appeal. Designers have liberated us from the burden of black. Loves it. I swear everytime I see someone walking down the street wearing a stylishly colored outfit I pause and sigh. It's like tasting a piece of candy. What we wear really does impact the way we feel and as such, the way we think. Duh. Sitting here in all black and navy, I envy the computer screen. Le drool.

virtually valentino

Sunday, December 11th 2011

Culture. One word encompassing the vast beliefs, customs and essence of a people. Valentino. One name that triggers all thoughts chic. Over the past forty years Valentino has captured us with his impeccable vision and taste for fashion. A man who splashes red with grace and highlights glamour with every stitch. His designs have draped the bodies of Jackie Kennedy, Julia Roberts, Natalia Vodianova and almost every lady of style in the public eye. His art hangs in the most beautiful of closets around the world and with the advancement of technology we can now get Valentino, virtually.  A fashion fairytale at your fingertips. Fashion is a culture. Valentino is a legend.

kicks aren't just for kids

Tuesday, December 6th 2011

To be stylish and feminine you don't have to wear five inch stilettos - and to wear a pair of tresridicool kicks you don't have to be a kid. You with me? It appears that we have found a merge between youth and fashion. Yes yes indeed we have. Less so in the seriously uptight setting of fashion and more so in the effortless European aesthetic we often find ourselves drooling over. The question is how a pair of casual printed sneakers can somehow transform an entire outfit? In truth, there are many ways. Men for example (the ones I particularly fancy at least) are able to rock a suit with sneaks and make it chic. The same idea goes for women. Slip into a flirty dress and pair it with a pair of sneaks, or sport a blazer and jeans with any pair of the kicks pictured above and you are sartorially editorial. Trust. Kick's aren't just for kids, the trick is to find the chic in kicks with the kid who lives inside of you.

Tripping in today's diction does not imply nearly falling over due to accidentally overlooking your step. However, even though today's slang may use the term trippin differently - there certainly is a similarity that isn't lost in translation. Psychedelic (don't worry this is not an English lesson I promise) is defined by Wikipedia (my bible - don't hate) as a derived translation from Greek root meaning 'soul-manifesting'. "The striking perception of aspects of one's mind previously unknown generating hallucinations, distortions of perception, altered states of awareness, and occasionally states resembling psychosis." Oh my. Odd to think that an entire era of paint, fashion, music, and even philosophy was inspired by the very state of trippin out. Thats like totally for sure tresridicool.

petite & pink

Saturday, December 3rd 2011

Satchel. The word immediately makes me think of Allen in the Hangover. Ha. But no no the fact that Indiana Jones had one is not our focus here. A colorful satchel is quite versatile really. Nothing has to match these days, it is all about how you make it work. Whether you rock an outfit with fun prints, dress in all black, or totally blend in with your walls - a colorful sac will look great, day and night.

Much more of a writer than a model, but nonetheless a tresridicool fashion junkie. By popular demand (and with a lot of hesitation) here I am all exposed to you my dear readers. A typical a-typical outfit, yup that is exactly what I meant to say. Perhaps not the first outfit you would pull together in your wardrobe, but one in which I felt fantastic - sheer white blouses with a black bra may be my fave, but coupled with skinny legged trousers - forget it, I am in heaven. Cheers to wearing what makes you feel good.

Is there a better way to celebrate your birthday than in the company of fantastic friends? Je pense que non. Exhibit A above: Kim and crew made a trip to the powder room into a tresridicool photoshoot. GMTA (great minds think alike, yo) and that is why we often find ourselves surrounded by totally tresridicool peeps. Kim spent her birthday back home in Paris with a handful of great friends, a perfect Balenciaga lace dress, and an abundance of toilet paper. Happy Birthday Kimy je t'aime <3

1st Arrondissement

Tuesday, November 29th 2011

Palais Royal is the mecca of romantic shopping. Sitting in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris across from the Louvre, surrounded by sequenced standing columns and Daniel Buren's site-specific artpiece, one can't help but get carried away. It houses a nice portfolio of tresridicool's favorite shops including the world famous vintage shop Didier Ludot, ACNE, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Maje and....well you get the parisian picture. Much like LA and New York, Paris is split up into little bundles of fabulous. Each pocket of the city providing a separate culture and character while offering it's own experience. Kim and her fabulous gold Zara shoes perhaps started with a nostalgic shopping day, but they ended it with rhythm at the Bercy. The perfect day in the life of tresridicool.

Romy Schneider is an icon to tresridicool and the many who appreciated her effortless charm. She started small and made it big, always hopeful for what was ahead. In her life of celebrated stardom she also endured the painful loss of her first husband and child. An experience that would leave us all in the Picasso blue era. However traumatic, Romy was a rare breed who continued to love and dream on the big screen while capturing the hearts of her audience. She was a classic beauty with impeccable taste and contagious smile. Paris paid homage to her iconic spirit,  and Kim found herself face to face with the woman who inspires her everyday.
